Research Process

Research is a form of inquiry designed to add new perspectives to or expand an area of knowledge. When writing a research paper, you will consider your existing knowledge, create a research question, gather evidence, create a thesis, analyze and synthesize your information, and propose a conclusion.

Research is also an iterative process. This means that you may go back and forth among those steps as you learn more and refine your inquiry and your thesis.

Credo Reference, one of Del Tech’s library databases, has a series of very short videos that explain different parts of the research process.
